Relocating to KZN

On the 18th of January SIM SA Leadership & Services opened its new temporary home at Umhlanga Baptist Church in KwaZulu Natal. Whilst the relocation is purposefully designed to be a phased transition, the office in Tokai continues to remain operational from Milton Road, Kirstenhof.

Please continue to pray for this strategic adjustment to our presence in pursuit of those living and dying without Jesus.

February - It was exciting traveling to Kathu (NC) and finalise the placement of Dr Sidney Berman with the SIM EBC Church

March - Much time was spent in preparation for the AGM for SIM SA, requiring that we finalise the Audited Financial Statements

April - I spent the month recovering from surgery, yet still getting around to meeting with leaders from different institutions, reinforcing our partnerships

May - I travelled from Tokai to Phoenix, meeting with our missionaries along the way, covering just over 2000 kilometers

June - I took time to reflect and review the past year, as well as to formulate an implementation plan for our Strategic Ministry Direction from what has been learned.

July - This turned out be a really busy month of administrative tasks, including the SIM SA Board meeting

August- I attended the Lausanne Initiative on Diaspora ministry in Cape Town; then went on to Zimbabwe where I was able to spend a few days with the Zimbabwean team during their SLC.

September - I was able to be present during the Regional Leadership Development Cohort #2 leading in song and returned to attend the national conference of the Evangelical Church in South Africa.

SIM SA & SASC

For a few years now, SIM SA has been providing supplemental management and support to SASC. On 29 June 2022, an MoU was signed by the 10 countries (SARC) and SIM SA to formalise SASC becoming a ministry of SIM SA. This means that SIM SA, through the ministry of SASC will provide a specified set of services to the Countries represented as the Southern Africa Regional Council.

As of 1 October 2022, SIM SA is responsible for providing financial and other limited services to the region.

October - Malmesbury, I still struggle to pronounce that but what I can say is "what a blessed time" we had at SLC 2022. From morning reflections along the stream to singing by the bonfire late into the evening, to great food and fellowship; family that encouraged, empowered and enjoyed one another.

November - It was time for another road trip. This time in Gauteng, where I got to spend a little time with some of our missionaries

December - Myself and the Leadership Team met to plan for next year, answering the question of "What are we to do to reach those living and dying without Jesus in South Africa and around the World?"

Prayer

I am sustained by the prayer of the saints.

"And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike." - Ephesians 6:19

I want to remain rooted in Church ministry and am grateful for the opportunities I was given in 2022. I hope to visit more churches in 2023 to encourage a mutual response to the gospel centric work we each must be committed to.

After having met with the leadership team in December, pray that we would be able to provide the necessary leadership, as we implement the new Strategic Direction for SIM SA.

Pray that as we develop the new KZN Campus around ministry that we would find favour with the authorities, communities and landowners as we acquire and develop the campus.

I have noticed ongoing challenges with visas for our missionaries and it feels like the South African government is becoming suspicious of religious workers, not without just cause, but this is making it difficult for us who have a legitimate interest in gospel ministry in South Africa.

Pray for Tamar as she finishes her last year at primary school and Ezekiel as he awaits his matric results and finalises his course of direction.

Pray that we would be able to raise the necessary financial support. Our current monthly support level is less than 50%.
